Jong Yoon, CPA

My name is Jong Yoon, CPA. I am a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Virginia and Georgia, and I help individuals, families, and business owners with tax planning, tax preparation, accounting, and personal financial planning.

I have been living in Columbus, Georgia since 2005. Before moving to Columbus, I lived in Fairfax, Virginia for 20 years. After many years of living and working in Columbus, I continue to maintain strong connections to both Georgia and Virginia. In February 2026, I also purchased a condo in Sandy Springs, Georgia as my second home, giving me another connection to the Atlanta area.

My professional background includes many years of corporate accounting, financial analysis, tax reporting, payroll, sales and use tax, business accounting, and financial reporting. Before focusing more on tax and personal financial planning services through Monieguide, I worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Global Payments in Columbus, Georgia from 2005 to 2022. During that time, I prepared revenue forecasts, variance analysis, financial reports, and management reporting systems. I also worked closely with accounting, tax, finance, and corporate management teams.

Earlier in my career, I worked in several accounting positions in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including Accounting Manager at Optical Elements Corporation in Dulles, Virginia, Senior Accountant at LaserShip, Inc. in McLean, Virginia, and Staff Accountant at Smith Bucklin & Associates in Washington, D.C. Through these roles, I gained hands-on experience in financial reporting, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, accounting system implementation, inventory and order management systems, nonprofit and association accounting, and audit support. These experiences helped me understand both the technical side of accounting and the practical financial concerns that business owners, nonprofit organizations, and associations face every day.

In addition to my CPA practice, I also serve as a Korean Business Coordinator for Choose Columbus, the economic development organization for the Columbus region. In this role, I help promote Columbus, Georgia to Korean companies and assist with business relationships between Korean businesses and the Columbus region.

In October 2025, I traveled to South Korea with the Mayor of Columbus and the Choose Columbus team to promote the City of Columbus and meet with Korean companies. Through this work, I have been able to combine my professional background, Korean language and cultural understanding, and local community experience to support economic development in the Columbus region.

My goal is to provide practical, honest, and understandable guidance. Tax and financial planning can often feel complicated, but I believe clients make better decisions when the information is clearly explained. Whether I am preparing a tax return, reviewing a business situation, or discussing retirement and personal financial planning, I try to help clients understand not only what needs to be done, but also why it matters.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from George Mason University in Virginia. My background in both accounting and finance helps me look at each client’s situation from a broader perspective, including tax impact, cash flow, long-term planning, and practical decision-making.

Outside of my professional work, I have been involved in the Columbus community for many years. I have served in various community, church, youth sports, and Korean American community leadership roles, including as Chairperson of the Mayor’s Commission on International Relations in Columbus, Georgia, Secretary General of the Korean American Association in Columbus, Program Director at Rock Presbyterian Church, and Team Manager for CHA High School Ice Hockey.

At Monieguide, my mission is simple: to help clients make better tax and financial decisions with clear guidance, practical planning, and professional care.
